Starter Kits

Your first campsite does not need a cart full of matching gear. Start with a safe, workable system and add the details that make it feel like your own.

First family camping trip

Plan for four functions: a weather-appropriate shelter, a comfortable sleep setup, a reliable cooking and water plan, and lighting that lets people move independently after dark. Check campground rules, forecast, and the needs of every family member before choosing equipment.

Lighting & ambience kit

  • One dimmable main light for the shared area.
  • One low-output light for each occupied tent.
  • One headlamp for each adult, plus an accessible backup.

Decorative string lights can come after the essentials. See our layered lighting guide.

Camp kitchen starter kit

Begin with a stable cooking surface, safe food storage, water, a simple utensil set, and a way to clean up. Add a coffee setup only if it is part of how you enjoy the morning. Keep fuel-burning equipment outside tents and follow manufacturer and campground instructions.

Product-specific kits will appear here after we have curated and checked the relevant items. For now, these checklists are designed to help you use what you already own.
